Postmates bike delivery is not a separate job in 2026
Uber bought Postmates in December 2020. By 2026 the Postmates consumer app and courier app are no longer a separate way to get delivery work in the United States. Customers and delivery requests moved to Uber Eats. A 2023 checklist for “becoming a Postmates biker” does not match how the work is assigned now.
Where bike delivery actually is in 2026
- Uber Eats. In some cities you can deliver by bicycle. You choose the vehicle type in the Uber driver app, and you have to meet that city’s age, background-check, and local bike rules. Requirements are shown in the app for your market, not in an old Postmates help page.
- DoorDash. Some dense cities allow a bicycle or e-bike. The Dasher signup flow asks for the vehicle and blocks markets that do not allow it.
- Instacart. Grocery delivery by two-wheeler exists only in a few cities, and Instacart has limited those orders to what fits on a moped or e-bike, not a standard pedal bike with a large cart. Most Instacart full-service work still expects a car.
What couriers still need
- Be old enough for the app in your city, usually 18, and 21 if you will deliver alcohol.
- Be eligible to work in the United States and pass the platform’s background check.
- Carry a charged phone, an insulated bag, and a bike that is legal where you ride, including lights at night.
- Follow local rules on e-bikes, sidewalks, and bike lanes. A platform’s approval does not override city law.
