Grubhub vs DoorDash driver pay in 2026
There is still no single national answer to which company pays more. Both Grubhub and DoorDash are active in 2026. A courier’s day depends on the city, the time of day, promotions, and tips more than on the logo.
- DoorDash is the larger U.S. marketplace, so many cities simply have more orders. Base pay is often a few dollars per delivery before the tip. Dashers see the offer total before they accept.
- Grubhub is smaller in a lot of markets. Where it is busy, contribution pay plus tips can match or beat DoorDash on a given block, especially if scheduled blocks still exist in that city. Where order volume is thin, the higher per-order number does not fill the hour.
Compare them in your own market for a week: accept similar distances, write down active hours, gross pay, and miles, and subtract an estimate for fuel. That local log is more accurate than a 2023 national average.
Multi-apping (running both apps and pausing one when you accept an order) is common. It only helps if you do not pick up two orders that are due at the same time in opposite directions.
Customer tips remain optional and are a large part of courier pay on both platforms. Neither company publishes a guaranteed hourly wage for independent contractors.
